District De-addiction Centre DDAC, MOKOKCHUNG DISTRICT NAGALAND

Need of the Project

The need for a de-addiction centre in Tuli is undeniable. The multifaceted issues arising from substance abuse—health concerns, crime, economic impact, family disruption, youth vulnerability, and community well-being—necessitate a comprehensive and compassionate response. Tuli urgently requires a de-addiction centre to combat the rising substance abuse problem affecting its residents. Substance abuse leads to severe health issues, increased crime rates, and economic instability, impacting the entire community. A de-addiction centre would provide essential medical treatment, psychological support, and rehabilitation services, helping individuals recover and reintegrate into society.

Additionally, such a centre would offer family counselling and youth prevention programs, addressing the social and familial disruptions caused by addiction. By reducing crime, improving public health, and boosting productivity, a de-addiction centre would enhance the overall quality of life in Tuli Town. It would serve as a crucial resource for fostering a safer, healthier, and more stable community, ensuring a brighter future for all residents. Establishing this centre is an essential step towards tackling substance abuse and its widespread consequences in Tuli.

Problem faced without De-addiction Centre

  • People without access to de-addiction centres face significant challenges in overcoming addiction. Without professional support, managing withdrawal symptoms becomes dangerous and potentially life-threatening. Psychological support, crucial for addressing coexisting mental health issues like depression and anxiety, is often lacking. These individuals also have limited access to accurate information and structured rehabilitation programs, hindering their recovery efforts.

  • Social isolation is another major issue. De-addiction centres provide a community of individuals facing similar struggles, offering essential emotional support. Without this, individuals may feel stigmatized and isolated, which can impede their recovery. Additionally, the risk of relapse is higher without a supportive environment to help manage triggers and cravings.

  • Legal and financial issues can compound the problem. De-addiction centres often provide or connect individuals with legal and financial support, which is otherwise difficult to access. Holistic care, including nutrition, exercise, and aftercare programs, is typically neglected without professional intervention.

  • Strained family and relationships further exacerbate the situation. De-addiction centres offer family counselling and education, which are vital for creating a supportive home environment. Addressing these challenges requires community support, increased access to online resources, and policy changes to make de-addiction services more accessible and affordable.
