About Us

The ‘Nagaland Ecological & Sanitation Management Society’ (NESMS) is a renowned registered state level society under the Government of Nagaland Act 1860 formed and registered on 19-12-2013. 

NESMS is renowned for its multifaceted approach to rural development, dedicated to enhancing the welfare of rural communities through diverse programs in women and child development, youth welfare, sanitation and environmental sustainability. NESMS has conducted various initiatives such as food and relief drives, support for the elderly and sanitation awareness campaigns across Nagaland. NESMS is currently implementing a livelihood and employment-oriented project that encompasses a wide range of initiatives.

A significant milestone includes the signing of Tripartite M.O.U on 26th of July 2023 with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways MoRTH (Road Safety), Government of India, Department of Transport Government of Nagaland and Nagaland Ecological Sanitation Management Society, for formation of society for “Establishment of Regional Driver Training Centre” (RDTC), at Kohima. 

Aims & Objectives

The aims and objectives for which the Society is established are as under:-

  1. To stand for the rights of the people without discrimination of the religion caste, color or creed and also to stand under Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005.

  2. To provide proper sanitation programs like toilets, urines, drainage, footpaths, footsteps, streetlights and such other programmes.

  3. To protect wildlife, forest and animal welfare, and such other related activities.

  4. To create conditions for rapid development in small and medium Towns of the state of Nagaland, by affiliating the society with the different Govt. departments.

  5. To construct or reconstruct or otherwise deal with the same and to provide an equip the same with all such plant, machinery, instruments apparatus, appliances, amenities and facilities.

  6. To develop entrepreneurial and other technical skills of the available human resources and to work for the welfare of the common people and to provide a platform for exchange of ideas and to sharing experiences amongst like-minded people.

  7. To work or alcoholic and drugs addicted people in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India.

  8. To create gainful employment opportunities for local populations by joining hands with different National and International funding agencies.

  9. To work under Department of Culture, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Horticulture, Land Resources, Fisheries, Youth & Sports, Water Resources, Co-operation departments, Tribal Affairs, Industries & Commerce,
    Food & Public Distribution, Textiles, Education, Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, Social Justice and Empowerment, Minority Affairs, Electronic & IT, Food Processing Industries, Law & Justice, New & Renewable Energy, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Housing, Environment & Climate Change, Labour & Employment, Dairying, Tourism, Women & Child Development, Skill Development, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, National Bee Board, Ministry of Handloom & Handicraft, Skill Development and Training, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (Road Safety)Government of India and Ministry of DONER Government of India.

  10. To purchase, take on lease or exchange, or otherwise acquire, manage, administer and deal with any movable or immovable property and privileges which may be deemed necessary, expedient or desirable for any of the object of the society.

  11. To provide technical consultancy service to different Government and Private Companies and private partners.

  12. To establish new branches /co-edited office in other districts by the society undergone Managing Director (M.D) as head office in different districts of Nagaland.

     

Vision

NESMS envision a future to lead holistic development across Nagaland by partnering with government and stakeholders in advancing Sanitation, Livelihoods, Ecological protection and to build a clean, green, and inclusive Nagaland by empowering youth, creating sustainable job opportunities, and promoting ecological balance and transparent governance.
